  19.           Promotional  BETA release of the Frequency Retrieval System
  20.           for the FCC Master Frequency Files.  This is an early "Look

  23.           Mouseable!    The FCC FRS now supports mouse action in many
  24.           areas of the program.  If you have a mouse and mouse driver
  25.           installed, you will find this a new and exciting way to run
  26.           FCC!

  29.           frequency retrieval system for scanner buffs, so we created
  30.           a scanning scanner for the opening intro screen.   You have

  52.           whatever.    This can reduce the disk space requirement  as
  53.           you  do not have to build indexes on fields you don't  want 
  54.           or care about.

  56.           Changed  method of handling databases.   In prior versions, 
  57.           when you selected a new database, the program would copy it
  58.           to  a  "FCC.DBF"  file.  Not only was this slow,   it  also 
  59.           required  double  the disk space for any database  in  use.  
  60.           The program now allows you to select any valid FCC database 
  61.           and use that file without copying it.   Changing files  has 
  62.           never been faster!   Once selected, the only requirement is 
  63.           to build new index(es) for the newly selected file.

  65.           Each entry in the database now contains a memo field.  With 
  66.           this, you can pop-up a window and add any notes or comments 
  67.           you want.  This note is attached to that individual record, 
  68.           so  each record in the database can have as detailed a note 
  69.           as you wish.

  126.           Added the ability to output selected records to a Delimited
  127.           or SDF format.   This will allow the user to output records
  128.           selected through the Query/Report function to a format that
  129.           can  be utilized by other systems or for incorporation into
  130.           your own designs.

  132.           Added  a  menu  option to allow  you  to  combine  multiple
  133.           databases in a single database.   This way,  you can output
  134.           several  counties  from your master  state  database,   and
  135.           combine them to one, giving it a unique name.  You will end
  136.           up  with  a  single  database  that  contains  exactly  the
  137.           information you want, and no more.  Pretty neat, huh?

  139.           Added install program to purchased system.   After the SEA-
  140.           PAC convention in Seaside, Oregon, we found that many users
  141.           were  having problems during the installation process.   In 
  142.           an effort to allievate these difficulties,  we have created 
  143.           an   install  program  that  will  be  included  with  each 
  144.           purchased   copy   of   the FRS.    See  the   READ.ME  and 
  145.           FCC.DOC files for details on running INSTALL.

  147.           Modified  the source code in the way that the Pack and  Re-
  148.           index was handled.   Program will, for the most part,  work 
  149.           as  before,   although  it now  functions  slightly  better 
  150.           internally.

  153.           database.   Previous versions of the FRS relied heavily  on 
  154.           county  databases;  the system now operates on any database 
  155.           that you may have created, whether it is by county or not.

  174.           If the FCC program were run from any root drive  (including
  175.           a floppy drive), the program would report that it could not
  176.           find all of the necessary files and terminate.  Fixed.

  184.           Modified  the   registration  method.    Previously,   when 
  185.           registering  the   FCC  Frequency  Retrieval  System,   the 
  186.           registered serial  number  was  embedded  into  the FCC.EXE 
  187.           program.   While  this  worked good,  users were  unable to
  188.           download newer versions from ScanWare BBS as they would not 
  189.           contain their  serial number.  Now,  FCC  uses  an external 
  190.           registration  file,   FCC.REG.    This  file  contains  the
  191.           registrants informtation and serial number and  will unlock 
  192.           all registered features of the FCC program.

  194.           IMPORTANT NOTES:  As this file is the registration file for 
  195.           FCC,  DO NOT DISTRUBITE THE FCC.REG FILE!  To do so will be 
  196.           in violation of copyright laws.   Also,  do not modifiy  or 
  197.           make ANY changes  to  the  FCC.REG file.  Should you do so, 
  198.           your  registered FCC program will  no longer function as  a 
  199.           registered version and will resort to  a SHAREWARE version. 
  200.           Now  I'm  sure  you  didn't  spend your  money  to  have  a 
  201.           SHAREWARE version, now did you?

  203.           If you are a registered user,  and would like to update  to 
  204.           version 1.11,  you may download the newer  version from the 
  205.           ScanWare BBS FCC Registered Users Conference.   If you have 
  206.           not  called before,  you will not initally be entered  into 
  207.           that  conference,  but by simply leaving  a private note to 
  208.           the  Sysops,  you will be given access by your  next  call.  
  209.           (The  Sysops check in very regularly,  so it would  not  be
  210.           uncommon to get updated within 6-10 hours).

  212.           To recieve your new FCC.REG file,  simply leave a  note  to
  213.           the Sysops in the FCC Registered Users  Conference.    Your 
  214.           registration  file will be place there and you will be sent
  215.           a  private  message identifying the file name (it  will  be
  216.           available only to you as an archive).   Should you have any 
  217.           questions or concerns,  you may  either contact the authors

  232.           2nd  Quarter 1993  release of the FCC  Frequency  Retrieval 
  233.           System by ScanWare Associates.

  235.           The  major significant difference since version  1.10   and 
  236.           previous version is the removal of  certain database fields
  237.           and a change in our pricing policy.  The FCC system can now
  238.           be purchased for only $29.95!  We have been able to acquire 
  239.           the  individual FCC state databases at  a lower price  than 
  240.           before, and are passing those savings along to you.

  242.           Analysis   has  determined  that  several  of  the   fields 
  243.           previously  contained  in the FCC databases  was  generally 
  244.           unused  and  unnecessary.   The specific fields  that  were 
  245.           removed were: 
  246.  
  247.           EXP_DATE - License expiration date
  248.           UNITS    - Number of units licensed
  249.           CLASS1   - Type of service, i.e., mobile, fixed, etc.
  250.           CLASS2   - Type of service, i.e., mobile, fixed, etc.
  251.           CLASS3   - Type of service, i.e., mobile, fixed, etc.

  253.           I  think  you will agree,  that to 95%  of  our  users  and
  254.           potential users, this information is largely useless. 
  255.  
  256.           As  little  data was contained in these  partiuclar  fields 
  257.           anyway,  we felt it approprate to remove them in an attempt 
  258.           to reduce the overall size of the databases.  We think this
  259.           has greatly improved the look and feel of the program. 
  260.  
  261.           As always,  we have strived to improve the program  by some 
  262.           minor modifications to the cosmetics and internal functions
  263.           of  our  program.    In an effort to  bring  you  the  best 
  264.           frequency retrieval system  money  can  buy, nothing is too 
  265.           good for our users!

  275.           Full color configurable.  You will be able to change any or
  276.           all of the colors as your heart desires.  Additionally,  it 
  277.           will  also  allow  running  FCC  on  a  monochrome   system 
  278.           (although  why  anyone  today would run such a  critter  is 
  279.           beyond me).

  281.           Ability  to support more than one state.   Simply create  a 
  282.           new  sub-directory off of the FCC main directory,  and  the 
  283.           set the path to that area.  This way,  you can have a  sub-
  284.           directory   for  each/any  state  you   choose. (REGISTERED 
  285.           version  only.    The SHAREWARE version  comes  with  FERRY 
  286.           County only.)

  288.           Databases  are  provided for each county in  your  selected 
  289.           state.  (Again,  only with the REGISTERED version.)    This 
  290.           will  greatly improve the system processing speed as you no
  291.           longer  have to manipulate the entire state  database  (can 
  292.           you   imagine  doing  a  search  on  the  ENTIRE  state  of 
  293.           California,  for example?)  A  future update will allow you 
  294.           to  combine  selected counties into a single  database  for 
  295.           ease of use.

  301.           in  previous  versions.    In keeping  with  the  SHAREWARE 
  302.           approach,   and considering that your  support  is  greatly

  304.           Retrieval  Systems  use  was not in  the  best interest  of 
  305.           either you or us.

  317.           see the potential of this program,  we  should provide you, 
  318.           the  potential  customer,  with a  database  that  contains 
  319.           frequencies  (after  all,   this  is  a Frequency Retrieval
